On the travel past a cemetery one April day, my mom's eyes lit up again. She paused. A beckon: "Look!"
I did. It was another patch of ivy resting on the iron fence that separated the sidewalk from the cemetery.
"We've seen enough ivy today mom," I thought aloud.
I regretted the words shortly after.
Of course she would pause at nature's giftings; she has a garden.
Even if it was another patch of ivy, her smile was gentle. Her admiration was never waning.
Your mother's dinners, the ones in which you'll cross your fingers for leftovers.
Her ability to know when something's bothering you without you ever saying a word.
Her bringing you your favorite treat when it goes on sale.
Remember them fondly this Mother's Day. Show her gratitude for pouring out her love even when you've felt hard to love.
Verses to inspire you.
She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also and he praises her;
"Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
—Proverbs 31: 27-30
